Tunis, March 31, 2021: DCAF and the Ministry of Women, Family and Seniors signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at establishing a framework for cooperation on the basis of an action plan drawn up jointly, which revolves around four major areas of work:

  • Support to the Ministry in carrying out an assessment of the integration of the gender approach in the justice and security sectors with the actors concerned;
  • Assessment of the institutional response to violence against women;
  • The establishment of a support mechanism for perpetrators of violence against women, and;
  • The establishment of a coordinated system for the care and protection of minors.

The signing ceremony took place as part of the launch of the new Gender and Security toolkit. Speakers presented the Arabic version of this toolkit. Two videos were viewed, one on the negative effects of gender bias on the security sector and the second on symbolic violence against girls.

The DCAF gender program in Tunisia is funded by DCAF's Trust Fund for North Africa (TFNA). The funding comes from Germany, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
