DCAF and the Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) news agency jointly organized a training session on the techniques to conduct an interview with counterparts from the security forces

Tunis, 7 and 8 June 2017 - DCAF organised in collaboration with the Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) news agency a training session for a ten investigative journalists on interviewing techniques for counterparts from the security sector.

 

This session was directed by a Swiss war reporter familiar with the coverage of security and conflict-related issues and aimed at strengthening journalists capacity to optimize the use of their source of information during the interviews.

 

The training included a theoretical and practical aspects using role plays, and allowed the journalists to address the following issues:

-   processing security-related information,

-   raising awareness of the main principles pertaining to conducting interviews and specificities of the security sector,

-   methods for optimizing the use of the information obtained from the source,

-   identification and exchange of good practice and experiences.

 

This the training was designed in a way that would to strengthen the capacity of the Tunisian investigative journalists to carry out their role of informal control of the security sector.

 

DCAF’s contribution to the project is funded by its Trust Fund for North Africa (TFNA). The donors are Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Sweden and Switzerland.
