DCAF organises in Kairouan a training session for local journalists on Internet-based research techniques and the use of metadata

Tunis, 19 and 20 April 2017: DCAF organised a training session for local journalists in Kairouan on Internet research methods and the use of metadata related to good governance of the security sector.

The journalists who attended the training were mainly from the regions of Kairouan, Kasserine and Sidi Bouzid in central Tunisia. Both theoretical and practical aspects of the training allowed journalists to:

- Improve their knowledge of the numerous working tools available on the Internet to better cover good governance issues in the security sector in general and more particularly in Tunisia;

- Become acquainted with the tools and techniques facilitating the research, monitoring,  verification, and authentication of the data published on the Internet and social media;

-  Develop knowledge of data visualisation tools.

The support provided by DCAF to Tunisian journalists is part of its efforts to provide communication support and enhance information sharing.

DCAF’s contribution to the project is funded by its Trust Fund for North Africa (TFNA). The donors are Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Sweden and Switzerland.

More information on DCAF is available on DCAF’s website or on DCAF Tunisia’s website.
