Tunis, 17 and 18 October 2017: DCAF held a 2 days training in Mahdia on “Internet-based research techniques and the use of metadata related to good governance of the security sector.”

This event follows previous trainings organized in Kairouan and Tunis, respectively on April and May 2017. It ends up the training cycle for journalists concerning this topic.

16 journalists representing 9 different regions in Tunisia took part in this last session. The training was mainly based on practical exercises, and allowed participants to:

-   improve their knowledge of the numerous working tools available on the Internet for a better monitoring of Tunisian audiovisual media, with a focus on good governance issues in the security sector;

-   Become acquainted with the tools and techniques facilitating the research, monitoring, verification, and authentication of the data published on the Internet, social media, and media websites

-   develop knowledge of data visualization tools for a better presentation of gathered data.

The support provided by DCAF to Tunisian journalists is part of its strategic objective to provide communication support and enhance information sharing.

DCAF’s contribution to the project is funded by its Trust Fund for North Africa (TFNA). The donors are Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Sweden and Switzerland.
