Tunis, 15th December 2016: DCAF and UNESCO, in collaboration with the SNJT (National union of tunisian journalists) jointly organized the award ceremony for the competition of “the best media product on security sector governance”.

This ceremony marks the end of a five training courses’ cycle on “media and security sector governance”, in which more than 70 Tunisian journalists took part between July and October 2016 in Sousse, Djerba, Kasserine, Gafsa and Tunis. Out of  22 journalists participating in the competition, 9 were awarded prizes for the best three press articles, audio and video reporting on this topic.

DCAF seized that occasion to announce the future creation of a network of journalists specialized in security sector governance related issues as well as the imminent launch of its new Marsad Tunisia platform. In addition, the spokesman of the Tunisian ministry of Interior, Yasser Mosbah, presented the ministry’s crisis communication strategy.

DCAF contribution in this event was financed through DCAF Trust Fund for North Africa (TFNA).  The Fund is financed by Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Sweden, and Switzerland. Further information on DCAF is available on the DCAF website or on the DCAF Tunisia website.
