DCAF supported the international conference "Integrity and Good Governance in the Defense Sector: Strengthening Democracy and Development", organized by the Presidency of the Tunisian Government and NATO jointly organized

DCAF supported the international conference

Tunis, January 17-18, 2019: DCAF supported the Presidency of the Tunisian Government in co-organising an international conference with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) on "Integrity and Good Governance in the Defense Sector". The conference aimed at:

 

-       Raising awareness of the actors involved in the risks of corruption in the defense sector.

 

-       Promoting an exchange on the challenges and prospects of other European experiences in the development of integrity in the defense sector;

 

-       Enriching reflection and constructive dialogue on the vision and reforms to be carried out in the process of strengthening institutions for integrity and the fight against corruption.

 

 

Following the presentations of senior Tunisian and international officials and experts, in-depth discussions focused on several themes, including:

 

 

-       the main initiatives and actions implemented to promote integrity and accountability in the defense sector in Tunisia and other represented countries such as Bulgaria, Spain and Serbia;

 

-       good practices in preventing corruption and developing integrity;

 

-       the importance of ethics, deontology and respect for democratic rights and principles in the prevention of corruption and the development of integrity.

 

The conference was attended by 150 participants, including representatives of the ARP, the Ministry of National Defense, the national anti-corruption body, the national access to information body, the commission against terrorism, as well as diplomats and representatives of civil society organizations.
