DCAF supports the delegates for childhood protection to strengthen their media communication techniques

Tunis, November 7th and 8th, 2019: In collaboration with the Ministry of Women, Family, Childhood and Seniors, DCAF organized a training session on November 7th and 8th, 2019 in Tunis for 33 delegates for Childhood Protection.

This training aimed to strengthen delegates' abilities in media communication techniques and is part of trainings given to this professional body since 2018. It aims at strengthening the dialogue between the delegates for Childhood Protection, the media and the public on issues related to child protection.

33 participants benefited from this training session, facilitated by a trainer in communication techniques who was articulated in a first part on a theoretical presentation of the guiding concepts of communication. The trainer reviewed several important principles such as writing a press release, preparing a press kit, or mobilizing conferences and speaking in public. The training also included practical exercises, with the simulation of a press conference as a central element.

The discussions were marked by the presence of all the regional office representatives, and resulted in a lively exchange followed by concrete recommendations on the support of the communications services in the central and regional offices of the General Delegation for child protection. This activity, which aims to strengthen the communication of this structure to the benefits of protecting vulnerable children and minors, will be followed by the development of a practical communication guide for delegates.

This project is financed through the DCAF Trust Fund for North Africa (TFNA). The Fund is financed by Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. Further information on DCAF is available on the DCAF website or on the DCAF Tunisia website.
