Organization of a regional workshop dedicated to capacity-building in the prevention of violent extremism

Tabarka, December 20 and 21, 2019: As part of the implementation of the cooperation agreement on the prevention of violent extremism signed on September 25, 2019, DCAF and CREDIF organized a training workshop in the city of in Tabarka, December 20 and 21, 2019.

 

After an introduction to the socio-historical framework of violent extremism, the extent of this phenomenon in Tunisia and the measures taken against it by the Tunisian authorities, the discussions held during these two days encouraged the participants to determine a list of recommendations to adopt an action plan to prevent violent extremism adapted and specific to the Jendouba region.

 

In addition, the CREDIF research team and the researchers associated with this activity benefited from a training session on research methods and techniques in this same field.

 

This workshop brought together representatives of the Ministries of the Interior, of Education, Ministry of Women, Family, Children and Seniors as well as representatives of local communities and regional associations.

 

This workshop constitutes the first activity of a joint project of CREDIF and DCAF aiming at capacity-building of governmental and non-governmental actors in the prevention of violent extremism, with a particular interest in the role of women and young people in this field.
