The association Aswat Nissa - “Voices of women” - and DCAF organise a Training of Trainers (ToT) on integrating the gender perspective into the SSR process in Tunisia.

Tunis, 16-20 October 2017:

Aswat Nissa and DCAF organised a training workshop on gender mainstreaming in the Security Sector Reform (SSR) process for 5 members from Aswat Nissa in charge of implementing the UN “Women, Peace and Security” Program.

This ToT – provided by two DCAF experts and one Tunisian expert – aimed to :

  • improve participants' knowledge of G/SSR ;

  • strengthen their knowledge of gender integration in SSR;

  • Providethem with the necessary tools to facilitate trainings on gender-integration into the SSR process.

This first workshop marks the launch of a joint project between Aswat Nissa and DCAF to strengthen the capacity of political women to promote gender integration into SSR. A series of trainings and working meetings will be organised between November 2017 and January 2018 with political women, active both at the local and national levels.

The support provided by DCAF to Aswat Nissa and Tunisian political women is part of its strategic objectives to foster inclusive dialogue on security needs and policies and support to managing change of security providers.

DCAF’s contribution to the project is funded by its Trust Fund for North Africa (TFNA). The donors are Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Sweden and Switzerland.
