Tunis, 3-4 April 2019: In partnership with the Presidency of the Republic of Tunisia, DCAF organized a round table devoted to the study and debate around the notion of a national strategy in the field of defense and Security.

In the presence of representatives of the Tunisian ministries involved, the speakers presented different approaches in the development of a national policy as well as the challenges encountered in the implementation of the first one. The three case studies presented (Belgium, Spain and Switzerland) made it possible to better understand the issues specific to the consultation and evaluation phases of the strategy and the importance of ensuring its effective implementation through the development of ministerial action plans.

This round table is a continuation of the cycle of conferences held in partnership with the Presidency of the Republic since February 2016 and this, on several topics related to good governance and cooperation between actors involved in security sector reforms in Tunisia.

This round table was funded by DCAF's Trust Fund for North Africa (TFNA). The funding comes from Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Sweden and Switzerland. Further information on DCAF is available on DCAF website or on DCAF Tunisia website.
