Towards the appropriation of the Guide on Forensic Evidence of alleged Torture and Ill-treatment by the Tunisians authorities

Sfax, Sousse and Tunis. September 26-28, 2018 : Following the official launch of the medical-forensic guide Guide on Forensic Evidence of alleged Torture and Ill-treatment on June 22nd, the document was presented and distributed to high-level magistrates and medical experts during a three day tour in Sfax, Sousse and Tunis.

The presentations were made by two medical experts and three magistrates who participated in the elaboration of the guide. The presentations were followed by intense group discussions with the high-level participants. These discussions allowed to further define the road map for the implementation of the guide in the different Tunisian regions. Legal and medical Tunisian practitioners shall benefit from in-depth practical trainings which will be provided by the members of the working group.

This project is supported by the Ministry of Justice and Health which have participated in the organization of this three-day dissemination tour and ensured the participation of several Attorney Generals and First Presidents of Appeal Court.

DCAF’s contribution to the project is funded by its Trust Fund for North Africa (TFNA). The donors are Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Sweden and Switzerland. More information on DCAF is available on DCAF’s website or on DCAF Tunisia’s website.
