Webinar on criminality and urban security

Tunis, April and June 2020: As part of a professional academic criminology and prevention of deviant behaviours Master’s program, launched by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Tunis in partnership with the Tunisian penitentiary authorities (Comité Général des Prisons et de la Rééducation), DCAF delivered on online workshop module on  urban crime and security.


This training course allowed participants to get acquainted with different theoretical approaches related to crime trends as well as criminal behaviour in urban settings and to assess the importance of security sector governance and reform in promoting local security. They also have been given the opportunity to build their skills to elaborate crime prevention strategies at the local level.


With its multi-disciplinary approach, this Master’s program intends to develop the capacity of Tunisian professionals and high-level officials – mainly from the prison administration – in order to foster sustainable and comprehensive security policies.


This event is financed through the DCAF Trust Fund for North Africa (TFNA). The Fund is financed actually by Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. Further information on DCAF is available on the DCAF website or on the DCAF Tunisia website.
